There are a couple of other princesses done up in this theme. The best I can tell the art is from the book The Art of the Disney Princesses.
I love these lovely retro inspired looks!
I also have been a long time fan of these realistic Disney princess photography art pieces by Jirka Vaatainen.

And I adore these historically accurate Disney Princesses by Claire Hummel.
These princess peasants by Sweet-Amy-Leah are too cute.
The princesses I'm thinking about doing are
Ariel: This dress a la Colette Pattern's Macaron.
Cinderella: Pink dress self-drafted. This version I found on etsy is just darling.
Find it here.
Giselle: I adore this dress! This will be a self-draft too. Another etsy find here.
Sleeping Beauty: I want to do a knit top for this one with a separate skirt.
Little girls have all the fun....(source)
Belle: Wearing History Late 1930s dress, jumper, blouse
Snow White: Colette Patterns' Ceylon
I won't be doing all of these especially since there are 6 princesses and we're only going to have 5 days in the parks! Snow White and Ariel are on the top of my list since I already have patterns for them. Belle is probably next since I just love Belle.

AWESOME! Those nook/ipone covers are so neat! Remind me of old pattern covers :) I'm so behind on technology, but I will add to my wish list- right behind getting an actual bit of technology to put it on ;)
ReplyDeleteSo much fun!!!! I can't wait to see how this comes together. Have a blast at Disney!
Heh- the pattern kind of does look like Belle. I never noticed. Must have been my subliminal childhood- she was my favorite ;)
What a great idea! I love that princess photography - I'd definitely have Belle up there on my list!
ReplyDeleteI would have enjoyed Disney World a lot more if the princesses there looked like the ones in that artwork! I was very disappointed, even as a child. I am using Snow White's 'historically accurate' dress as a starting point for my Harvest Party costume ( I hope I get it done this year). I'm looking forward to seeing your progress!
ReplyDeleteCool idea, I think a lot of these dresses could easily be updated to look modern and not costumy. Belle is my favorite
ReplyDeleteWhat a fun project and one that is sure to not only make you smile, but all the little girls you meet at the park during your visit! (I know mine would be super impressed!)
ReplyDeleteI saw the Ariel dress and instantly thought of the Macaron dress. I can't wait to see what you do.
ReplyDeleteI love this idea - I've made a Sleeping Beauty costume myself! Just be aware (this is information I know from people heavily into costuming like myself) Disney won't actually let guests into the park if they are dressed like the characters, unless it is a special day like Halloween. Obviously with a modern twist you should be okay but you might want to pack a change of clothes just in case - they are super strict about it.
ReplyDelete@Miss Emmi-Thanks for letting me know. I'll definitely keep that in mind!
