Fashion and Film: Marie Antoinette

I am a girly girl. I love ruffles and pink and ginormous skirts and pretty shoes, and shiney things and all manner of over the top things. So, it probably is no surprise to you that I love the movie Marie Antoinette (2006).

All of the costumes in this film are gorgeous!

Oh, and the sweets! We all know French sweets are the best!

Beading and trim and diamonds oh my!

Wouldn't you love to lounge around with your girl friends dressed like this?

Even the little girls have ridiculously frilly dresses.

The decor is also fabulous!

Hats!

I love all of the yummy color combinations in the costumes.

And there's even a bit of undergarment eye candy.

But what's the best part of this movie?

Shoes!

More shoes!

Even more shoes!

Glorious, frilly, girly, fabulous shoes!

And if you watch carefully, you can even spot a pair of anachronistic shoes!

Do you love the over the top girliness in this movie or do you prefer things toned down?

  1. I love this movie, and all of the fluff! I'm not an over-the-top person, but in the movie it's super adorable and fun, it works!

  3. To be true I only watch the movie because of the costumes. It´s like rococo Clueless, colourful, girly, fun. I love how nearly everything is cotton candy coloured. And I have a soft spot for historical clothing anyways.

  4. Oh goodness, yes! I can never, ever get enough of opulent 18th century style and would go mad for a dress in the style of one of Marie's timelessly gorgeous looks. Swooning over here, dear gal, thoroughly swooning! :)
