Inspiration: 1920s

I've been really inspired by the 1920s lately.

I don't know if it is the new season of Downton Abbey.

Or maybe it's because I'm growing out my pixie and I'm considering getting a 20s style bob during the grow out process.

Or maybe it's that I decided that I like 1918 and 1919 and they just roll right into the 20s.

I have avoided the 20s previously because the ideal figure is totally opposite to mine!

But I may just have to try one of these cute looks this year!

And really, I'd love get to wear this to work! Yay for lady chemists!

Are you getting excited about the 20s?

  1. I agree. I never 'got' the 20's fashions and art deco before. but recently (thanks to pinterest) I'm discovering it wasn't all sack-like and harsh angles. That there were some 'pretty' fashions. And ruffly dresses that would fit my shape.

  2. Hi Stephanie Lynn,
I've always been a fan of the 1920s era. In the past I've tried my best to duplicate my hair, makeup, wardrobe, and accessories like the 20s. I've had so much fun with it,but with Season 3 of Downton Abbey it has just ignited again. I love the roaring 20s...I think you will look darling wearing the stylish bob hair, the stunning drop waist line dresses, along with all the hats, jewels, shoes etc...it will be an amazing look.

  4. The lady chemist is really cute! I think it's so cool that you're studying chemistry - I wish I'd stuck with science instead of getting a theatre degree! I love illustrations from the 20s but then I saw the fashions on Downton Abbey on girls who actually do have ideal figures for the time and I spent the whole rest of the episodes complaining about how ugly it all was. So far I only love the hats.

  5. I've been very inspired by the 1920s for the past few months, too, which stems largely from the fact that Tony and I got really in Boardwalk Empire late in 2012. Beyond that though, I've found myself being pulled more towards the second decade of the 20th century than I usually am, and am even hoping to put together a 20s inspired outfit later in the year.

  6. I never was interested in the 20s because I don't have the body for it, and was tired of it just being the Flapper/club wear that I always see at 20s events. But then I started looking for everyday 20s and found some amazing ones that any of us could wear. So now I'm spreading the word, The 1920s-Not Flappers! http://pinterest.com/timetravels/1920s-not-flappers/
Love to see you in yours!
