Red Apple Lipsitck

Not too long ago, I was contacted by Red Apple Lipstick to see if I'd be interested in doing a review for them. Of course, I said yes! They're products are gluten free, paraben free, toxin free, animal byproduct free, lead free and soy free plus they list all of their ingredients on their website so you now exactly what you are putting on your face. They also don't test on animals and everything is made here in the USA. My sister has Celiac Disease so I know how hard it can be to find safe products when you are allergic to something very prevalent.

The lipstick came packaged in this cute little bag. I'm a sucker for cute packaging! The lipstick came in a black tube with a little apple on top. It's nice but nothing super special. Their website is clean and easy to navigate. One thing I really loved is that they showed each shade on three different models with different skin tones.

I really wanted to put these lipsticks to the test so I set out to wear them every day for a week. I work in a chemistry lab where some times I do research and some times I teach so I'm talking a lot but I can't reapply my makeup to prevent my makeup getting contaminated by whatever I'm working with in the lab. If I'm going to wear lipstick, it needs to be tough and not leave those icky red rings!

I asked to try their Strawberry Lips shade. I wanted something that would give me a pop of color but that would be not so loud that I couldn't wear it to work. And this shade certainly fits the bill! The website describes it as a brown-kissed red but on me it looks like more of a mauve-red. I really love this shade! It blends really well with my natural lip color.

I wore the Strawberry Lips color on days I was working. I was immediately impressed by the consistency of the product. It felt amazing on my lips! Not dry or sticky at all. It lasted ok but it faded really nicely so I didn't have to walk around with awkward remnants of lipstick on for the rest of class.

They also sent me a tube of the Red! shade to try. It's a really nice bright true red. One thing I noticed about these lipsticks is that they blend really well with whatever other colors you wear on your lips. So without liner, the Red! looks pinker on my lips because they are naturally a rather pink shade. With red lip liner, it stays much more the color in the tube. I think this is a really cool feature because you can tailor the shade to your preference by using other lip products with it.

The Red! color I wore on the weekend. It lasted about as long as I'd expect a red lipstick to last. Red lipsticks are notoriously high maintenance. It didn't bleed even without lip liner which is great. I did need to reapply after eating but I've not yet found a red lipstick that can make it through a meal unscathed.

I noticed something rather odd about halfway through the week-my lips felt amazing and my winter chapped lips were gone! My lips chap very easily even when I'm good about using chapstick. My lips have been in fabulous condition since I started using the Red Apple lipsticks. Aside from keeping all sorts of yucky things out of their products, Red Apple adds vitamin E to their lipsticks and it works!

Even though my Red Apple week is over, I keep reaching for these two colors! I know there will be more Red Apple lipsticks in my future! And there could be some in yours!

Red Apple sent me two tubes of Strawberry Lips so that means one for one of you!

  6. Ohh, thanks for the lovely review! I'm always looking for more lipsticks to add to my collection. I think one of my fave shades was Reddy or Not. It seems like it would be a great summer color.

  7. Well, I already am a follower and have checked out the website. My fav shade is Ruby Slippers (so Dorothy Gale!).

  8. LOVE them all. What a fantastic product! The Beach Peach is for sure my favorite! Thanks for introducing a great product to all of us :D

  9. I thought you had a new shade of red lipstick when I read yesterday's post! Both look smashing on you! To be able to find a company that makes paraben-free, non-animal tested products is amazing!!

I really like Reddy or Not and Love My Kiss. Great shades!

  10. I have such sensitive skin; I always get a rash around my lips. I miss wearing lipstick so much. Love the colour "Rebel"! My email is kibbleking(at)yahoo(dot)com(dot)au

  11. Oh these are fabulous! I love the Rebel! and Strawberry Lips shades. I tend to be picky about lipstick shades, but some of these are perfect! My email is elliemae117(at)yahoo(dot)com

  12. Wonderful review and giveaway! On the hunt for GF lipstick (much like your sister, I have celiac disease) last year, I discovered Red Apple's wonderful offerings and have since enjoyed collaborating on a review and giveaway, as well as becoming a devoted customer (the fact that they ship to Canada is so fantastic!). I really like their classic red, but am trying to find a good 1950s-esque pink at the moment, so I think that I'd most like to try their French Skirt lipstick most this year.

  13. As much as I love reds and pinks, the Plum Sexy Crazy really caught my eye. I know what you mean about red - I love wearing it but feel sort of crazy with all of the mirror-checking.

  14. Makes me want to buy some even if I wouldn't win... The Rebel seems like my color :) And I know what you mean about chapped lips, mine are horrible.

  15. Red! looks so fabulous on you, and I know I would love it if I won one for myself. Red lips all the way girls! :D

Also, I know you've had your new blog design for a while, but I've been really bad about commenting what with exams, so I wanted to tell you I really like the new style! :)
