Happy Halloween!

Happy Halloween all! This year instead of a full blown costume, I went for a 1950s Halloween themed dress instead. Much easier and more comfortable!

Tada! I used a TNT shirtwaist dress pattern for an easy project.

I used Butterick 8078 and a novelty print quilting cotton with tiny potion bottles on it.

It was really fun to wear at my church's Harvest Party. The weather was quite chilly, so I paired it with leggings and gray boots.

I was on chili serving duty so here's a great action shot. It was fun standing next to such a cool pot all day in my potion dress.

What did you wear for Halloween this year?

  1. Cute print! I'm dressed up as a Hogwart's professor today, but I made a novelty print dress, too! It's been fun wearing it this month.

  2. Very cute and something I'd be much more apt to do than a new costume every year. Although I'd love to do a costume from GoT. Maybe Shae or Arya, they are the only brunettes I care for in the series.

  3. I love it! This is a great idea! I agree with Sean that I'd be much more likely to make a new dress like this rather than a costume every year. It looks great!

  4. I love the print, it looks totally vintage too! I am also wearing a 50s-ish dress this year instead of a costume. I love your witchy little ankle boots also- Happy Halloween!!

  6. That is such a terrifically cute, festive pattern! I love that it evokes the spirit of the Halloweens season, but could easily be worn throughout the rest of the year, too.

    Joyful start of November wishes,
    ♥ Jessica
