Classic Casual

I do a really bad job of capturing my more casual outfits and I want to do a better job of that this year.

For a chilly, rainy, gray day, sometimes a pretty dress just doesn't cut it! I paired a vintage Pendleton style plaid jacket with Freddies jeans and saddle shoes for a comfortable, cozy look!

This style of wool jacket tends to be rather boxy so I opted to belt it to show off my shape.

I got this jacket for a great price since it has a few moth chews but I couldn't pass up the gorgeous color combo! I really need more of these jackets in my wardrobe!

I love these brown on brown saddle shoes! I feel like the white and black/brown color combo can look costume-y if you're not careful. I don't wear these shoes much which is a shame because they are so cute!

Thanks to everyone who commented on my hair decision post a few weeks ago! I went back and forth a couple of times but ultimately decided to go for short again! Love it! This is my original hair cut but I've since tweeked it a bit since the bang section was still a bit long but it feels so nice now.

What is your favorite comfy casual vintage outfit?

  1. I am not sure if my comment took the first time, something weird happened...

Anyway, love this look. It would be my absolute vintage uniform if I wore vintage full time. I need to get some 49ers! Yay for you! Everyone needs to embrace who they really are. I too love short hair. {Loved my pixie too!} But needed a change. I would like to have a Bettie Page style just once. But without a doubt I see myself going back to that pixie.

  2. That's a lovely look. I am currently too fat for my trousers and since I think it's complicated to make trousers that fit and look good (especially when you're overweight) , I'm not planning to make any soon, but I miss the time when I could wear my wide legged cotton twill trousers. Not that I felt more casual in trousers than in skirts, rather the opposite, but in some weathers it is practical.
So my casual look (not that I leave home much now since I'm recovering after major surgery due to a hole in the duodenum and stomach) now is usually a coarser wool skirt, wool tights, a short wool jacket, knit beret and mittens. And flat, sturdy shoes.

  5. i love casual outfits ... you look totally adorable in your denim pants, plaid jacket and saddle shoes ...
sadly these kind of looks don't work for me, because 50s style denim pants don't want to fit me ... :(

  7. Love everything about this look! That jacket is so, so timelessly pretty and your hair looks cute as a button here.

Hope you're having a great start of 2014!

  8. Your hair looks really cute.

For casualwear, in winter I like a tweed or tartan skirt, plus a jumper (sweater). So cosy!
