Once Upon a Time

Sometimes an event comes along that just screams for a particular outfit. This weekend we had the pleasure of shooting a lovely wedding where the couple incorporated their love of cartoons into their big day!

So I just had to dress to match their theme! My Sleeping Beauty inspired skirt from Pin Up Girl Clothing. I've been dreaming of wearing this skirt to Disney but that will have to wait!

I just adore this skirt so much! It is so much fun to wear! But I do have a difficult time trying to decide what to wear with it. It has both blue and black but I don't really have a nice blue or black blouse to wear with it.

So I dug around in my closet and found this navy sweater. I quite love this sweater but I haven't worn it in a while. There's not really any navy in my skirt but it still works.

One of my favorite parts of this skirt is the twinkling stars in the sky and the wispy clouds. It's so dreamy!

I paired a this skirt with a medium sized crinoline. It would look fabulous with a fuller one but sometimes I need to fit into small spaces while shooting.

And of course, pearls go with everything! I'm still adoring this dainty pearl necklace that I got from the Renaissance Festival. It's so feminine!

What would you wear to a cartoon themed wedding?

  1. GAH! That is my Neuschwanstein Castle skirt!!! I knew I had to have it the minute I saw it listed on instagram. I dream of wearing it to of course the Neuschwanstein Castle in Bavaria. Psst, did you have to size up, I've heard some ladies had to with the Jenny skirt.

    1. No, I didn't have to size up. I'm right between a M and L in the waist. I actually bought two Jenny skirts at the same time, one M and one L and I had to take the L in because it was too big. They do have a bit of stretch so that helps with the sizing.

  3. What a beautiful skirt. You wear it so well:) It really isn't an easy task to find good blouses to go with skirts. When I see a good sweater or blouse I like I try to buy it.

  4. Oh, I love this model!!!! So cute!
I wanted to order one but I think that they are a bit too short... 1 or 2 inches more will be great, what do you think? Is the lenght OK?

    1. I like the length. This one is 26" long. I have another colorway and it's 25" long. Usually, I like 25-30 inch skirts so it's good for me.

  5. I almost bought that skirt the other day! Instead I went for a harlequin blouse and skirt combo. I figure I'll wait and try to catch it on sale next year. It looks really adorable on you :)

  8. Oh! I too have this skirt! But in the blue scheme! And like you mentioned, have dreams of wearing it do a Disney park!

I think this was a nice touch and homage to the couple's theme!

  9. What a great skirt, and although there is no navy in it, your sweater goes wonderfully. It's so nice that you can wear you pretty clothes when doing shoots. I have a closet full of great outfits but don't get to wear them very often as I'm not working and don't leave the house very much. You are a great inspiration.
