And this is one of the reasons that I cut off my hair. In my heart, I am a short haired girl. And I love it. I've chopped it off and grown it out before and I'll probably do it again.
There are also some changes going on in my personal life especially with graduating and starting a new job and some that I want to make like being more athletic that short hair will be helpful with.
Also, I've been wanting to go back to my natural hair color. I've tried a few times but gave up after a few months. So, this way, most of the color is gone and it'll be easy to grow out the rest.
So I'll be rocking vintage and a pixie for a while.
This dress is Simplicity 3010. I made it at the end of 2013 but this is the first time it made it onto the blog.
It's made from a teal corduroy and has 13 buttons, 3 of which are functional. Originally, I had planned on doing bound button holes but I didn't feel like it when I actually got to sewing up the project.
I've been having some mixed feelings about this hair cut since I've gotten it but today has been a good day. I've decided that iPhone photos make my hair look worse (even with my longer hair) so I refuse to judge my hair by iPhone photos anymore. They just make me feel bad.
So today, I'm embracing my inner pixie. :D
Love you new hair! You really have a good face for a pixie.
ReplyDeleteI love short hair on you! It just seems to go with your features so well, and I'm right there with you about just being who you are, regardless of what others think. I'm currently letting my hair grow back out from a middy because I just don't feel like me without longer hair, even though I liked a lot of things about my middy. Also, totally agree with iphone photos. My selfies always look horrible.
ReplyDeleteYour new haircut is darling! It looks so good on you. And that dress is great - the color is sensational.
ReplyDeleteYou look adorable! Just gorgeous! A perfect pixie :)
ReplyDeleteLindo seu novo corte de cabelo, ficou muito bem em vocĂȘ. Gostei muito do vestido azul, perfeito.

I know what you mean. I've chopped my bangs in hopes of embracing a more authentic 50s/rockabilly look. Then the many hairscapades that makes me just want to embrace more of me. I think I've been trying too hard to change me that I lost sight of what makes me most happy.
ReplyDeleteI normally am not a fan of shorter hair, but you look absolutely lovely with it. Congratulations! I love your dress! (And your blog!) :-)
ReplyDeleteI love corduroy. It's much too overlooked, in my opinion. And I love pixie hair, too. After my first child was born, I cut off enough hair to donate. Loved it! Grew it out for two years, had another baby, chopped it again. Some days it feels boring after you've done so many months of setting and curling, but in the end you'll like it. And hats start to play a bigger role, too, because you're not worried about smooshing curls! Great look!
ReplyDeleteyour new haircut is great, so much better than befor
ReplyDeleteA) love the dress -- it looks so comfy and cozy, and the bright color ALMOST makes up for spring not being here yet! I keep pulling out bright colors too, trying to get myself thinking about warmth.
ReplyDeleteB) that is the cutest hair cut you've had yet -- it just suits your face so much more. I hope you're loving it!
Stephanie, you look adorably cute with your new haircut! Good decision, it makes you look younger (although I liked your endless versions of retro hairdos). :o)
ReplyDeleteCongratulation for graduating and good luck for the new job! I hope you'll still have enough time for sewing and blogging. Fingers crossed! ;o)
I love this whole look! I have always loved you with a pixie cut - it makes your pretty features stand out. That dress is fantastic!!!
ReplyDeleteI've always really loved pixie hair and often wished it was a style I could carry off myself. You look lovely with it, it really suits your bone structure.
ReplyDeleteI think amongst the vintage community there's a degree of pressure to achieve a certain look of authenticity which is ridiculous really, we should just do what makes us happy. There's no reason why pixie hair and vintage style can't go together (or anything else for that matter).
Your haircut is adorable. I have been waiting for warm weather to get mine done, I have been rocking a pony tail for a while now. I am inspired! Both with the haircut and the dress!
ReplyDeleteI love your haircut! You look almost exactly how I picture George in the Nancy Drew books now!
ReplyDeleteI also love your new haircut! It suits your beautiful face really well - brings focus to your high cheekbones:o)
ReplyDeleteYour hair looks great! I've been toying with cutting my hair short for a while but as yet need to pluck up the courage to actually go for it. You really do make me want to go for the chop - short hair looks great on you!

You look great with a pixie cut! And your dress is really pretty, too--that pattern has so many cool features!
ReplyDeleteSqueeee! You look darling! I love the new haircut on you.
ReplyDeleteIt really suits you x
ReplyDeleteWise outlook on life, my dear. It's true, even in the fashion world where there is such vast room for individuality, it can sometimes seem like such is lacking or that it's a constant context to look and dress better than one another. I love and respect that you went with your gut when it came to your hair and that you're rocking a short length again. It truly looks gorgeous on you!

Oh my goodness! Your cut is DARLING!
ReplyDeleteAnd love the "be yourself" quote! And it is certainly hammering home at the moment.
Fabulous dress too! Love the color!

I love the quote! That's fantastic and something I needed to hear lately. I recently subscribed to your YouTube channel. Enjoying making my way through a lot of your videos.
ReplyDeleteI just love your new hair cut. You are also a whiz of a seamstress. Tailoring fits you so well. Wonderful dress to go with your wonderful new look. Also, love the Oscar Wilde quote.
ReplyDeleteI think your new hair cut is great!
ReplyDeleteAnd I already liked your dress on We Sew Retro, and even more now. The colour is very flattering on you and the shape works really well. I've seen some 1940's styles which can get a bit frumpy, but this one is just lovely.
Great hair, and a fab dress to go with it!
