Today we're talking wardrobe building again but this time we're talking budget. Whether you go all out for designer pieces or stalk thrift stores for buried treasures, we're all working on a budget. In this video, I share some of my tips and strategies to help my wardrobe dollars go farther.
Wonderful video and topic! This is a subject that's really near and dear to my own heart, as I live on a fairly strict budget and am always looking for ways to stretch a dollar, be it on daily necessities like food or daily niceties like my vintage wardrobe. :)
ReplyDeleteThank you very much for sharing you great tips (I so agree about the importance of basics + separates, even after about 16 years or wearing vintage, I still center my wardrobe around those two categories, with plenty of fun accessories thrown into the mix). I love the Everyday series of books, too. I have the 30s, 40s, and 50s one and have read and reread each of them so many times, I'm honestly surprised they aren't losing pages at this point. :)

This is the best advice/how to for first time vintage clothing buyers. I wish I had this info when I first started wearing vintage, ten years ago.
ReplyDeleteYou are right about the prices on vintage pieces things are getting super expensive. I've done a few of the things you said, 1980's does 1940s clothing is so easy to find in my neck of the woods. When shopping at vintage markets I always look for the cheaply priced items. I'll find cheap costume jewelry for 0.25-$3.00 that looks like it came right out of the 1940s-1960s. I even keep an eye out for AS IS vintage clothing that might need a hem/seam mended, these items are so cheaply priced the seller sometimes sells it for even lower the price when I am just looking at the item.
I agree classic styled clothing is a must for anyone who wears vintage. I've even found a few classic styled clothing at K mart and Target. I always make sure to check out the men's section in the stores and always find classic styled button down shirts.
ReplyDeleteReading fantastic blogs posted by women talking about their experiences when wearing vintage helps me get ideas for my own individual vintage style, too. Also watching lady youtuber's show super easy ways to set the hair in that classic vintage style, helps a lot.
Thank you for this great series,
