Wardrobe Architect: Week 7

I'm working my way through the Coletterie's Wardrobe Architect project. If you missed the first post, start here.

*********

Week 7 is all about looking at prints and patterns that you actually like to wear (vs the ones that call to you from the quilting section of JoAnn's) so that's what we're going to do. I started by looking at some of my favorite outfits to see what types of prints I enjoy wearing.

So what I have noticed? I like a lot of solids, either great basic pieces or a mostly solid piece with some sort of embellishment. I tend to like smaller prints rather than large ones. I like classic prints like stripes, dots, and geometrics (not too modern looking though!). Mostly, I do not like novelty prints especially ones that look really young but there are exceptions to any rule.

What kinds of prints do you like to wear?

  1. What lovely outfits! I'm obsessed with polka dots and florals. My closet is full of both.

  2. I love bright florals, but I'm getting ready to add some fun novelty prints to my wardrobe as well!

  3. I tend to favour small to medium sized prints as well. I'm fairly short (5'2") and find that bigger prints can often overwhelm me, so with few exceptions, I keep them on the smaller side usually.

Florals, plaids, polka dots, and mid-century novelty prints are my top choices.

  4. Small florals, polka dots, plaid, gingham ~ these are my must haves and I will wear just about anything in those prints! I *need* plain basic pieces to balance the prints, but I always forget about them when buying fabric, because prints are just my thing!

Love those solid colors on you though Stephanie, they look fab! ❤

  5. This is one thing I noticed when I had realized I needed to go through my wardrobe. What do I love to wear? I love that you pulled together photos of some of your favorite outfits, so you could see a pattern.
