Konmari Organization Part One

I'm not doing a detailed vlogging of the organization part of the Konmari method, but I did want to share some of my progress today! I'll take you to a couple places around the house where I've implemented new organization.

Day at the beach

The absolute best part about living in Florida is the beach. I just adore the ocean and sometimes we just go there to hang out and don't even get in.

My favorite outfit for just such an activity is my 1930s beach pjs made from this Wearing History pattern. They are seriously the most comfortable thing ever but they make you look so glamorous.

I made these pjs out of some yummy 100% linen so they are dreamy to wear and quite practical for the summer sun. (And it's Florida so our summers usually last from May through September.)

I also like that it covers me up which means less places to slather on sunscreen and less places to get burnt! I probably should have brought a hat though because the sun was fierce!

I always get lots of comments when I wear these. Beach wear fashions have definitely gone downhill since the 30s. I guess people aren't used to seeing glamor on the beach any more!

On this particular occasion, I was attending a beach baptism which was really cool but definitely wasn't going to include me getting dunked. (Fun fact: I was baptized in a hot tub.)

I did end up doing a bit of wading right before we left. Even just this bit of water helps cool you down a lot and I can imagine many beach going ladies in the 30s doing the same thing.

Even though you can't see it well because of the wind, I also got a new hair cut! My hair wasn't quite grown out enough to do exactly what I wanted but my hairdresser worked some magic to give me this 20s inspired bob! Hopefully, I can get a more authentic 20s cut in a few months when all the layers grow out but until then, at least all the unmanageable bits are gone!

What's your favorite thing to wear to the beach?

Live by Faith

Sometimes, a bible journaling verse just happens! I was looking for a verse to journal on and I opened my study bible to find one. I've had my study bible for many years and have quite a few underlines and notes scribbled in the margins. I often flip through it for inspiration.

It fell right open to Habakkuk 2 where I had verse 4 underlined. I pulled out some teal letter stickers and was planning on a pink background. I gathered all of my stamps and inks for this page, and then promptly spread teal paint all over the page. Ooops!

So, I had to change my plans-white stickers and black inks. And I pulled out some printables from my Illustrated Faith devo kits.

I decided to use the Own It tap for this page. Sometimes when you are journaling, things don't go as you plan. Just like in real life, when things don't work out like you want, you can either get upset, or own it and make something good out of it.

And, unlike with my journaling page, I know that if my life doesn't turn out how I imagine, I know that God has a great plan and things will turn out. That's the whole point of living by faith. We can trust Him when to make things come together.

Birthday Shopping Haul

After so much Konmari and decluttering, I decided to treat myself to a bit of birthday shopping! Konmari and minimalism has totally changed how I shop! For my wardrobe, I keep a list of pieces I want to replace or add to my wardrobe. This helps me stay focused while out shopping and keeps my impulse shopping to a minimum. I also do one in one out. When I buy a new piece, I let go of an old piece. Having to decide which piece to remove from my wardrobe helps me decide if I really like a potential new piece in the store.

So what did I buy? Watch to find out!

Illustrated Faith Devotional Kit Unboxing May

Today, I'm doing a type of video I've never done before-an unboxing! I don't usually do subscription type boxes but I have been purchasing the monthly Illustrated Faith devotional kits by DaySpring. I thought I'd do an unboxing of the May kit (even though I've seen pictures of it online already) and let you know what I thought about the April and March kits (both of which are still available).

Did you enjoy the unboxing? Let me know if you'd like to see more of these!

Time Traveling Fashion Blogger

One of the cool things about being a vintage fashion blogger is that I get to time travel trough the decades looking for fashion inspiration where ever I go! So let's go time travel!

1920s

The 1920s is a decade that many vintage loving ladies shy away from but I love this cute lady golfer look!

1930s

I just adore my 1930s beach pajamas! They really are quite fabulous for a day sea side!

1940s

Nothing says classy quite like the 1940s lady in a matching suit set!

1950s

Rock a casual 50s look for a summer bbq (or whenever you wish you were actually at one!)
