Errands and Hair Modeling

Dresses and crinolines are all very fun to wear but sometimes life calls for something a bit more practical. I love a good pair of pedal pushers for running around town. Which is why I opted for something casual for a day of errands.

I wore my Freddies with this fun BBQ print top. It's such a fun print! I'm not normally a huge novelty print person but this one is just too perfect.

I love a good mid-century print. There's something about the atomic 50s style designs that I love. Perhaps it's because they don't read juniors or little girl like some other novelty prints can. Cutesy prints just don't work on me.

I'm pretty sure there's my dream kitchen out there somewhere covered in this print!

Sometimes when you take outfit photos, you have an audience. There are a lot of people who enjoy walking their dogs in my neighborhood. On this day, several of them where hanging out letting their puppies have some social time.

So, I'm trying to look cool and fabulous taking photos in the median in the street and then this happens:

Ok, so maybe I don't have a career ahead of me as a hair model but the dog walking ladies thought I was a hoot.

My best tip for taking photos in public is to have fun with it. It can feel weird if there are other people around but if you have fun, they'll have fun too. It's is odd to be a blogger and to document so much of your life like this.

What's the silliest thing you've ever done in a photoshoot in a public place?

  1. Would you mind telling me where you got that blouse, or the fabric it's made of? I love love love that print! I love your hair model pictures, they're so candid, fresh, and not to mention, absolutely adorable :)

    1. No problem. I made it from a Micheal Miller print that I found at fabric.com. I don't think it's available there anymore but you might try etsy or ebay. His line has tons of other cute prints though.

  2. For a lookbook video I went into a coffee shop to change three times to shoot each one outside. I had to walk through the whole shop to get outside, so I'm sure I looked like a ridiculous, possibly crazy fashionista!

  3. Same here! Tony calls my pair of denim capris my summer uniform, and objectively, at least when it comes to dashing out in a hurry or anything involving the dog, he's completely right.

  4. I love midcentury prints too - that one on your top is fantastic. That whole outfit is really cute - so simple, but oh so vintage.

Back around 2000 I worked on a games magazine, and every month we had to dress up for a photo shoot for the 'meet the team page'. The one that sticks in my mind was the time all five of us - three blokes included - dressed up as Britney Spears because she had a game out. I still have my fake plaits somewhere...
